road and location of a potential thermal generating
powerplant.

c. Upon completion of the Definite Plan Report and Draft
Environmental Impact Statement. public meetings will
be held in the area to discuss project plans and
environmental consequences.

d. The project appears to favorably meet present criteria
for project evaluation.

Fruitland Mesa Project

a. Project is essentially ready for construction.

b. An environmental assessment has been distributed for
review. and a Draft Environmental Impact Report is
nearly complete.

c. Comments from the environmental assessment were not
substantial.

The Forest Service has designated a new wilderness
study area that includes a portion of the pro-
posed Soap Park Reservoir.

(2) Reservoir construction would reduce the wilderness
qualities of this area. The Bureau Of Reclamation
and the Forest Service are negotiating to resolve
this problem.

d. The Draft Environmental Statement is scheduled for
August 1975 and the Final Statement for December 1975.

e. The project repayment contract has been executed.

f. Administration policy on new starts and budgetary
constraints will govern future furiding potential.

6. Savery-Pot Hook Project

a. Essentially ready for construction.

b. A Draft Environmental Statement for the project has
been completed and distributed. Environmental impacts I
are not significant. Two problems exist: One as to
fishery releases on Savery Creek in Wyoming. and
big game mitigation in Wyoming. The Bureau of Recla-
mation is working with the Fish and Wildlife Service
and State of Wyoming to resolve this problem.

c. Currently the environmental statement is scheduled
for hearings in October 1975 and the final statement
for December 1975.
