The requested amount is $50,000.

.

Clarification of Agenda Item Title
During the early formation of the project scope, it was anticipated that the project would be limited to "gray
water" use only. Gray water commonly refers to the re-use of water from baths, showers, washing machines,
and sinks (household wastewater excluding toilet wastes or "black water") for irrigation and other water
conservation applications. However, as interest in this project began to grow, the project participants felt
that the ideal project would be one that not only encompasses gray water, but one that includes, almost
exclusively, the use of untreated wastewater or "black water." Therefore, to. clarify the remainder of this
memo, the proposed pilot project will be focused on the "conservation of non-tributarv groundwater (and
appropriate trans-mountain diversion water) through the re-use of untreated wastewater (blackwater)."

Pilot Proiect Background and Goals:
The proposed proj ect involves developing and demonstrating a working prototype for reuse, recycling,
and/or reclamation of non-tributary groundwater and/or transmountain diversion water that may be
consumed by a public water utility or special district for use in a municipal setting. The demonstration
project will be planned, constructed and operated, at a pilot scale, to:

.

. Determine technical feasibility of constructing and operating the selected reclamation/recycling
system. Technical feasibility will be assessed with regard to implementability (e.g., zoning and
building code limitations, water rights issues, equipment availability, constructability, permitting,
etc.) and reliability (e.g., regularity of system upsets, freezing issues, plant sensitivities, etc.). The
piloting effort will also review system wide impacts of implementation (e.g., impact on sewer
collection system flows, treatment plant operations, return flows, etc.).

Flood Protection.
