Denver, Colorado <br /> <br />The Colorado Alliance for Water Education develops and disseminates impartial educational programs for the <br />people of Colorado to provide a wide range of water related information from various viewpoints with no <br />advocacy position taken on any issues in order to foster a broader understanding of water challenges among the <br />general population and aid in the informed and timely discussion of water issues. <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR <br />Colorado Alliance for Water Education <br /> <br />The CA WE is a new non-profit, and is seeking its first Executive Director. This job is intended to further the <br />organization's mission. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managerial, development, and <br />marketing experience in the water education or non-profit sectors; possess a positive outlook, demonstrate <br />entrepreneurial characteristics, and have a strong interest in the CA WE mission, The position requires both the <br />implementation of an education outreach program and the development of a foundation corpus for funding water <br />education initiatives around the State, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Professional Skill. Experience. and Qualifications <br />A successful candidate should possess the following; <br />· Bachelor's degree preferably in natural resources or education, A Master's degree is desirable. <br />· At least 5 years demonstrated successful managerial/supervisory experience, preferably related to water <br />education, water resources or in a non-profit organization. Experience should include organizational <br />leadership, management of day-to-day operations, direct interaction and reporting to a Board of Directors, <br />evaluation of clerical and professional personnel, team building, and development and monitoring of <br />organizational fiscal operations. <br />. Demonstrated success in development work, including success in writing and managing grants from <br />public and private sources. Experience should also include developing and fundraising campaigns. <br />· Demonstrated effectiveness in establishing and accomplishing organizational goals and objectives <br />tlrrough strategic planning/analysis, problem solving of both a personnel and programmatic nature, and <br />conflict resolution. <br />· Demonstrated effective ability to communicate in writing and orally with the members of a Board of <br />Directors, the general public, staff, and representatives of other water resource organizations. <br />Demonstrated experience in making formal presentations to large groups. <br />. Knowledge of and experience with applicable technological support systems, including computer assisted <br />software programs. <br /> <br />Position Duties and Responsibilities <br />The Executive Director is the principal development and administrative officer of the CA WE, and operates the <br />organization consistent with the organization's Board of Directors, its bylaws and mission, The Executive <br />Director acts to carry out the organization's mission and program work, and strives to maintain and promote the <br />organization's values of protecting Colorado's water resources through an active education outreach program. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Financial development and budl!etinl! <br />Works to create and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the organization, helping to expand <br />philanthropic support for the organization through identification and cultivation of individual, foundation, <br />corporate and public sources of revenue, Plays a meaningful role in all aspects of donor relations, <br />Develops and revises project proposals and grant applications to foundations and government agencies, and other <br />major donors <br />Reports annually to the Colorado Water Conservation Board on the status of the .base program funding <br />Prepares and manages budgets and financial reports, Maintains a financial accollllting system consistent with <br />generally accepted practices for non-profits <br /> <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />Flood Protection.
