A copy of the authorizing ranguage is <br />attached. <br /> <br />The Colorado Water Congress established a Steering Committee to guide the establishment of the <br />foundation. A list of the Steering Committee members is attached, The next meeting of the Steering <br />Committee will held at 7:30 a,m, Friday, Angust 23 at the Manor Vail Resort, This meeting will be held <br />at the Summer Convention of the Colorado Water Congress (CWe). <br /> <br />The Steering Committee has recommended that the new foundation be called the Colorado Alliance for <br />Water Education (CA WE). <br /> <br />Current Establishment Issues: <br /> <br />1. Establishment Grant to the Colorado Water Congress <br /> <br />The legislation allows the Board to provide the first $250,000 for the establishment of the <br />foundation in the form of a grant. We have begun the process necessary to provide the grant. <br />Unless the Board indicates otherwise, the entire amount will be provided to the Colorado Water <br />Congress in one lump sum. These funds are available until they are expended. <br /> <br />2. Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws <br /> <br />Attorneys representing the CWC are reviewing the proposed Articles and Bylaws. <br /> <br />Some ofthe specific items to be included are: (I) ensuring two board members will be selected by the <br />CWCB and the CWC Board of Directors; (2) board members will be removed from the board ifthey <br />miss two consecutive meetings of that board; and (3) there will be an appropriate conflict.ofinterest <br />provision included in the Articles and By-laws. <br /> <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />Flood Protection.
