Walcher <br />Executive Director <br /> <br />Rod Kuharich <br />Director <br /> <br />Dan McAuliffe <br />Deputy Director <br /> <br />The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Executive Director and the CWCB Director may direct and <br />manage natural resources and environmental educational programs (24-33-109 C,R.S.). In March 2000 the <br />CWCB agreed to support a $115,000 water education initiative and funding was included in the 2000 Water <br />Project Authorization Bill (HB 00-1419). <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />After receiving this legislative approval, we developed a work plan, sought the support of the Colorado <br />Water Congress, created a CD-ROM containing a wide variety of water educational materials, and <br />negotiated contracts to begin distributing the CD's and implementing the program. The following is a <br />breakdown of the program implementation steps to date: <br /> <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board 2000 Education Initiative <br />Task: <br />Contract with Learning to be Water Wise <br />CD Production <br />Internet information and evaluation <br />Education Coordinator/Evaluator <br />Water's Ways/Earth Educators <br />Grand Total <br /> <br />$50,000.00 <br />$17,500.00 <br />$5,000.00 <br />$15,000.00 <br />$30.000.00 <br />$117,500,00 <br /> <br />In addition to the funds discussed above, the CWCB has requested and received $50,000 in Severance Tax <br />Funds for education projects to be carried out between July 1, 2001 and June 30, 2002. <br /> <br />The Colorado Water Congress (CWC) Board of Directors met on August 24 to make a recommendation to <br />the CWCB regarding the expenditure of these funds and the future direction of the CWCB Water Education <br />Initiative. <br /> <br />. The CWC Board passed two resolutions: <br /> <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />Flood Protection. Water Project Planning and Financing. Stream and Lake Protection <br />Water Supply Protection. Conservation Planning <br />
