Activities may include rebuilding water snpply and <br />sanitary sewer systems. <br /> <br />Long-term mitigation plans will be promotedlenconraged so that local governmental entities can <br />develop future mitigation strategies and priorities. These plans shall be adopted by the local <br />governmental entities and npdated on an annnal basis. Development of the plans will follow the <br />nationally recognized 10-step process. <br /> <br />Structural and non-structural mitigation measnres will be prioritized in local flood hazard mitigation <br />plans and can inclnde activities such as: berms, levees, channel improvements, acquisition of <br />floodprone structures, elevation of floodprone structnre$ and floodproofing. <br /> <br />CWCB staff will take the lead role in assisting with the disaster area recovery and mitigation planning <br />effort. <br /> <br />Summary <br /> <br />The CWCB flood response program is proving to bean effective means of responding to Colorado <br />Flood Events, in a rapid response mode, by ad<:lressing the 5 program elements described in this <br />memorandnm. <br /> <br />L:\boardmem\march02\agenda item 23d - flood response program component update.doc <br /> <br />Flood Protection.
