"'r~~U

more of storage in Lake Powell if our estimates
are correct."

MR. ECKLES:

"In e:lCcess of what is there now?"

MR. JENNINGS:

"That's right."

MR. ECKLES;

"Thank you."

MR. GOODWIN:

"Bob. a question I was going to ask you,
do you anticipate that later on, say this
season in the fall, that we are going to ~ave
to let more water out of Lake Powell to satisfy
the needs of Lake Mead or are we going to be
able to store some excess there that we can
use or are we going to have to drop Lake powell
down again considerably?"

MR. JENNINGS:

"That is a question that I don't think has
yet been determined. The plans that I know of
at the present time, and I know that these are
under study all the time and can be changed,
are that they will first get Lake Mead up to
rated head and then start storing in Lake
Powell."

MR. GOODWIN:

"'VIe 11, actually, what I was getting at is
how much time have we, or how much grace do we
have, to get Lake Mead Up? Does it mean that
we are going to have to get it up wi th all the
water possible or are we going to be allowed
to store some at Glen Canyon?"

MR. JENNINGS:

"The present plans are to first get it up
to rated head and then store in Lake Powell.
The operations after that point, late summer
operations and through next winter, I have no
information on what their plans are. There
are studies being made all the time and I think
they won't make a decision on it until after
they see how the spring runoff occurs. They
are reviewing these studies now and what hap-
pens largely depends on how the runoff occurs
this spring and what occurs after the runoff
is completed."

I

I
