<br />~ <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Washington D.C. Trips: <br /> <br />Two trips were made to Washington D.C.; the first to hear oral arguments in Kansas v. Colorado <br />and Nebraska v. Wyoming, which we previously mentioned. The second trip was devoted to <br />providing testimony in support of the Bureau of Reclamation budget, with particular emphasis <br />regarding the Animas-La Plata and Dolores Projects. Copies of the testimony are attached for <br />your review. <br /> <br />u.s. Forest Service Issue: <br /> <br />We have been working closely with the Department of Natural Resources, the Attorney Generals <br />Office, and the Legislature concerning the U.S. Forest Service Filing in Division 3 on East <br />Middle Creek. The legislature passed SJR 15 (attached) sponsored by Senator Norton which we <br />concurred with and is attached for your review. Additionally, amendments were made to HB <br />1155 to allow for legal _expenditures if required from our $4 million account which was <br />established last year. We also have a report in executive session concerning the case. <br /> <br />Assessment of CWCB Computer and Communication Capabilities <br /> <br />In accordance with our Long Range Plan, we have organized an internal Computer Advisory <br />Committee and designated a computer services/information technology coordinator (JeffBaessler). <br />With their assistance, we have completed an assessment of our computer equipment and <br />capabilities. I am pleased to report that our staff has made great improvements in these areas: <br />every staff member has a computer on their desk, and the gap between their needs and their <br />equipment capabilities is closing quickly. At the same time, we need to keep in mind that the <br />capability of our constituents is increasing rapidly, and that there is a tremendous opportunity to <br />provide better information in a more timely manner if we stay abreast of current technological <br />advances.
