Salt Lake City and Denver, were presented. All
in writing, signed by the various presidents or
vice-presidents of those companies. These
letters then satisfied the objections of the
New Mexico delegation pertaining to release of
the resolution.

I

upon return from their conference with Mr.
Patterson in the Argonaut Hotel, Commissioner
Johnson and Governor Clyde both stated that the
Public Service Company of Colorado was 'greatly
disappointed'that the original resolution had
not been adopted but that they would accept the
resolution as amended. The Secretary, Mr. IvaI
Goslin, then read a prepared proposed telegram
by which he would inform the congressional dele-
gations of the Commission's action. The general
tenor of this telegram, and I do not remember
the exact wording, was as follows:

'The Upper Colorado River Commission today
adopted a strong resolution in favor of the com-
bined transmission system as proposed by the
investor utility companies' or words to that
effect. New Mexico representatives immediately
objected to any interpretation of the resolution
by the Secretary. This objection was sustained
by the Commission and the Secretary was in-
structed to immediately wire the interested
congressional people giving the entire contents
of the resolution.

Immediately after the adjournment of the
executive session, the meeting was open to the
public. In open session the resolution was
formally adopted. Members of the press then
asked whether or not the Commission had solicited
the new proposition as presented by the various prt-
vate power companies. Governor Clyde answered by' : I
stating that the Commission had not. A further
question was asked as to whether or not the
Commission members had met during the day with
any members of the Public Service Company of
Colorado or the investor utility companies
representatives. Governor Clyde again answered
by stating that the Commission had not so met
with any representatives. Both answers by
Governor Clyde were false.
