<br />." ,.,. <br />, . \. <br /> <br />. 1" ~: f.. <br /> <br />The Board's news release is distributed each March to daily ,and weekly newspapers across Colorado. The <br />material contained in the news release will assist staff writers to develop informative articles about flood <br />insurance and the possibility of flooding this year for their r~aders. In addition to the Board's news release, <br />Board staff works with other government agencies to make information on flood insurance and flood risks <br />available for the publications, too. I <br /> <br />I <br />The CWCB Chief, Flood Protection Section, chairs the Colorado Flood Task Force. The first 2001 Flood <br />Task Force meeting is scheduled on Aprill7th. The Task Force membership is made up hydrologists, <br />meteorologists, and program directors that are knowledgeaqle on flood threats, short and long weather <br />forecasts and trends, and flood preparedness assistance programs. The meeting reports are available to the <br />general public on the CWCB web page - www.cwcb,state.co,uflflood watch/. <br />I <br />These activities are offered to improve the public's awaren~ss of flood hazards in Colorado and the actions <br />which citizens and local governments can take to mitigate t100ding problems. A copy ofthe draft news <br />release is attached to this memo for Board comment. . <br /> <br />Reauested Action <br /> <br />, <br />, <br />I <br />The staff requests Board co~ent on the CWCB 2001 Colorado Preparedness Program and welcome other <br />considerations that staff should implement. The utilization' of the media for information dissemination is the <br />staff's recommendation for dissemination on the CWCB Flood Protection Section's spring 2001 Flood <br />Preparedness Activities.
