<br />EI Paso Countv Water Authoritv - EI Paso Countv Water Master Plan <br />Authorization: HB 00- 14 I 9 Grant Amount: $200,000 <br />Water Source: Project Type: Water Supply Study <br />Location: El Paso County Project Manager: Tim Feehan <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />This project is the preparation of a Water Master.Plan for EI Paso County by a group of 17 water providers in the County <br />who have formed the EI Paso County Water Authority. The Attthority has adopted a five-year program of technical studies <br />aimed at the development of a long range, countywide Water Master Plan. The purpose of the plan is to develop water <br />resources, systems, and facilities in whole or in part for the benefit of Authority members and their inhabitants, and other <br />residents of the county, now and into the future. Phases I, 2A, and 2B have been completed by John C. Halepaska & <br />Associates in association with Knight Piesold and Co. A ward of Phases 3, 4B, 4C, 4D, and 4E to HalepaskalPiesold is <br />scheduled for approval in November 2000. The preparation of a CWCB funding contract and scope of work is in draft form. <br /> <br />North Fork hnDrovement Association - Paonia Reservoir Rehabililation <br />Authorization: HB 00-1419 Grant Amount: $55,000 <br />Water Source: N. Fork Gunnison River Project Type: Wtershed Planning Stdy <br />Location: Delta County - 20 miles E. of Paonia Project Manager: Brian Hyde <br /> <br />The North Fork hnprovement Association (NFIA) is a non-profit corporation with a mission to meet current and future <br />demands for traditional uses of the river while improving stream stability, riparian habitat, and ecosystem function along the <br />North Fork of the Gunnison River. An important aspect of the river system is the Paonia Reservoir, and the Association will <br />use this grant to stttdy the Reservoir's effect on the North Fork. The study will be conducted by CSU and administered by <br />the Association. Grant contracting and development of the plan of study is currently underway. <br /> <br />Pagosa Area Water and Sanitation District - Feasibilitv Studv <br />Authorization: HB 93-1273 <br />Water Source: Dutton Creek <br />Location: Five miles northwest of Pagosa Springs <br /> <br />Grant Amount: $5,000 <br />ProjectType: Feasibility Study <br />Project Manager: Bill Green <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The District will prepare an updated feasibility study (with consulting assistance) for the enlargement of the District's <br />existing Steven's Lake Dam and Reservoir. The reservoir has a capacity of 635 acre-feet and is located on Dutton Creek <br />about five miles northwest of Pagosa Springs. A feasibility study for the project was first submitted in October 1992. The <br />project was approved by the Board and authorized for $1,912,000 in HB 93-1273. <br />In April 1996, the CWCB staff reviewed the report and requested that the District update the study prior to entering into <br />a contract for a construction loan. <br /> <br />Alamosa-LaJara Water Conservancy District - Alamosa River Watershed Proiect <br />Authorization: HB 00-1419 Grant Amount: $300,000 <br />Water Source: Alamosa River Project Type: Steam Stabilization <br />Location: Terrace Res. to LaJara in Conejos County Project Manager: Brian Hyde <br /> <br />This project will involve the final design and construction of river restoration improvements on the Alamosa River <br />downstream of Terrace Reservoir. The river was straightened in the 1970's, leading to serious instability and erosion <br />problems. A master plan for the reach between Terrace Reservoir and U.S. Highway 285 has been prepared. This project <br />will focus on the subreach in the Capulin area. hnprovements will include realignment of the channel, bank protection, <br />weirs and other flow control structures, A Scope of Work is currently being developed.
