Our resolution made
it pretty clear that we are depending on that
compact and we are not going to willingly per-
mit any use of water in excess of the compact
commitment. That is the gist of the thing.
They know what our position is already."

MR. We appreciate your great efforts and
I'd like to come back to Mr. Barkley and his
question he posed to us and that's the ques-
tion of the recodification of the reclamation
laws of the United States which the western
states are now attempting to do, particularly
by Colorado, with emphasis on the needs and
protection that we feel are necessary in
Colorado.

Mr. Barkley has recommended four promi-
nent attorneys from all sections of the state
to work on this problem and I'd like to ask
again, do you have any forecast of what it
will cost so that we can budget these matters?"

MR. BARKLEY:.

"No we don't, Mr. Chairman. However we
