MR. KROEGER: I don't have
that there are a few Eunds
would b~ adequate for n~xt

anything: specific.
transferable to the
year.

It's my understanding
Animas-La Plata that

MR. STAPLETON: Any further discussion 'on ,this 'project?, (No:re~ponse.)

All right. We'll pass on to the Dallas'Creek.

MR. SPARKS: Dallas Creek is one'that we have had some pJ:oblems with,
particularly at our meeting ~n Grand Junction last year. ,I think al~
those problems have ,been resolved. The de~inite plan repo~t has now
been completed, at least the field draft, and we have received.this
week the draft environmental impact statement on the project. As the
board will recall, we have nine autho~ized'projects. Until the time
that we ,received the environmental impact statement 011 'the Narrqws
project, ,we have never received any environmental impact statements.
The Narrows was the. first and this is part of the problem with getting
these projects moving. The Narrows project was l;he first experience
we've had in reviewing an environmental impact statement on any rec1-a-
mation projeqt here in Colorado. We do, now have the draft environmental
impact statement on the Dallas Creek project, and hearings will be held
in Montros~ on that statement early 'in April, as I recall. Hopefully,
construction on that project will start. We have construction funds
this fiscal year, and we b~lieve that the funds are adequate.to con-,
,tinue the construction for the ne~t fiscal year.

MR. STAPLETON: Any question or discussion on the Dallas Creek project?
(No response.)

We will now proceed to the Dolores.

MR. SPARKS: For the Dolores project; the definite plan report has
almost been completed. Negotiations are now under way for the repay-
ment contract. We expect a draft on the ~nvironmental impact statement
on that project in the very near future. The disappointing thing about
the President's budget was the lack of any funds to initiate constru~-
tion on the Dolores project. For this fiscal year, the board did

I

..8-
