Stiefel had left the Board's <br />employ, and he suggested he be permi tted to employ a man, not an engineer, <br />to act as an executive assistant to the Director. <br /> <br />No objection was voiced to the Director proceeding in an <br />effort to employ an exec uti ve a ssi s tont. <br /> <br />Mr. Dille moved the approval of the minutes of the meeting <br />of the Colorado Water Conservation Board, he,ld September 27 end <br />28, 1946, and the minutes of the meeting of the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board, held December 6 and 7, 1946. <br /> <br />The motion was secon1ed by George Pughe and upon vote being <br />taken was unanimously passed and declared adopted. <br /> <br />Mr. Merriell reported the Grand Junction office of Region 4 was <br />v,'Orking on a project to supply supplemental water in the Cedaredge area in <br />Delta County, Colorado. This would involve a reservoir on the North Fork <br />of the Gunnison River. The logical site for a reservoir is at Bardine, but <br />the Bureau of t,ines has asked such plans be set aside, as there are about <br />150,000,000 tons of coal to be mined in the area. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Attorney General Hinkley reported on the Benziger case. <br /> <br />Mr. Bailey said that the committee on the North Platte case hes <br />filed a report showing the quantity of water stored and the number of <br />scres irrigated. <br /> <br />This report ~'ss filed under the diraction of tha Suprane Court. <br /> <br />There being no further busine ss to cOllle before the Board, the <br />meeting adjourned at 6:20 P.M.
