'<

-2-

obtaining instream flow protection for streams flowing through the DOW's State Wildlife A
Areas. -
. BLM-presented streams in water divisions 4, 6 and 7. The BLM is interested in obtaining
instream flow protection on streams flowing through BLM lands, especially those with
endangered or sensitive species, areas with high recreational values and uses, diverse fishery
or riparian communities and sufficient water quality to support fisheries.
. USFS-presented streams in water division 4. The USFS stated that they are interested in
obtaining instream flow protection on streams on USFS lands, especially those with cutthroat
trout, good fisheries and riparian habitat.
. USFWS- The Fish and Wildlife Service requested instream flow protection on Rock Creek,
a stream that flows through the newly formed Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge.
. Town of Mintum- The Town is requesting an enlargement of the existing instream flow
water right on the Eagle River (5-78CW3796). The reach of stream is from the confluence of
Cross Creek to the confluence with Gore Creek. Over the past several years, this reach of the
Eagle River has been improved through channel rehabilitation and restoration, which
included restoring the channel back to its natural width, adding rime and pool sequences,
adding meanders and planting riparian vegetation.

2006 Instream Flow Approoriation Recommendations
Pursuant to ISF Rule 5c., the Colorado Water Conservation Board is hereby providing notice that the
following streams are being considered for instream flow appropriations in 2006. At the January
2006 CWCB meeting, Staff may request that the Board form its intent to appropriate ISF water
rights on these streams.
