This meeting provided Staff the opportunity to help provide the public a better <br />understanding of the instream flow appropriation process as well as providing an opportunity for any <br />person, agency or organization to recommend stream reaches or natural lakes to the CWCB for <br />inclusion into the Instream Flow and Natural Lake Level Program. The workshop allowed the <br />recommending persons or entities an opportunity to present their recommendations and provide an <br />explanation on why instream flow protection is important for these particular streams and natural lakes. <br />During the workshop, the public had the opportunity to raise questions and concerns regarding the new <br />appropriations process. The workshop was quite successful and was attended by approximately sixty <br />individuals including several CWCB members, water users, and members of the public as well as <br />representatives from various local, state and federal agencies, water districts, consulting firms and <br />environmental orgllni7'ations. <br /> <br />Participants who attended the workshop h~ or received written requests and/or comments for <br />instream flow water right protection from the Division of Wildlife (DOW), United States Fish and <br />Wildlife Service (USFWS), United States Forest Service (USFS), Bmeau ofLand Management (BLM), <br />Trout Unlimited and the Town ofMintum. The intent of the workshop was to provide Board member <br />and public involvement in the instream flow recommendation process and to obtain a list of streams and <br />lakes that to be considered for inclusion into the Instream Flow and Natural Lake Level Program. <br /> <br />As stated in the Instream Flow and Natural Lake Level Program Rules, all persons or entities <br />interested in recommending stream reaches or natural lakes for inclusion in the ISF Program may <br />make recommendations at any time. Provided below is a list of recommending entities with a <br />summary of their stated objectives provided at the February 2005 Workshop. <br /> <br />· Colorado Division of Wildlife-presented streams in water divisions 6 and 7. The now <br />stated that most of the field data collection efforts were to be directed towards the streams <br />with cutthroat trout populations.
