BOAR1J ACTIONS ON NARROWS RFSERVOIR

April 25, 1949

Board recommended that full investigation be made, and
construction started only after approval by Board.

Consulting engineer Tipton reported that studies by the
Bureau of Reclamation favored the Narrows site, in preference
to the Fort Morgan site, and that reservoir plans were being
materially changed to make a more acceptable project.

June 11, 1951.

Director reported that because of the intense local
interest and plans for the Narrows dam, it appeared advisable
for the Board to arrange and sponsor a series of public hearings
on this project. He suggested that, if possible, such hearings
be limited to three and that they be held at Fort Morgan,
Sterling and Greeley.

On motion, the Board authorized holding a series of
meetings and reports to the Board of their results and a resume
of the various views of local interests, in order that the Board
could consider the same in preparing comments on the project.

May 5" 1952.

Director Stone called attention to the compilation of
the records of hearings which had been held at Fort Morgan,
Sterling and Greeley. He also reported on a meeting sponsored
by the Sterling Chamber of Commerce and which was attended by
him. This meeting was attended by about two hundred people.
Statements were made by representatives of Region 7, Bureau
of Reclamation, concerning the plans for the project, including
its operational plans, and supplemental surveys and investigations
on the project which had been undertaken and which were desired
by the Colorado Water Conservation Board and the locally
affected interests. Before the meeting closed, a vote disclosed
that all except two of the persons present favored the construc-
tion of the project and the plan of operation.
