Mr. T. H. Rediess, Brush, Colorado introduced him-
'self and spoke on the opposition to,the Narrows in former
years but that most of this had now been cleared up. State
Representative Howard Propst from Logan County also spoke on
this opposition, saying that he felt those formerly opposed
were now in favor of it.

Mr. 'Lew' Williams asked if the money spent hereto-
fore would be lost; if they would have to start from scratch.
Mr. Walter assured him the money would not be lost, that the
physical part of the work already done would be utilized. He
said the economics would have to be restudied and that oppo-
sition to the reservoir site by local people was understand-
able as any reservoir would take up land.

MR. STAPLETON:

"What is the Bureau of Reclamation's
obligation to release the water downstream
under flood control circumstances?"

MR. KN IGHTS:

"This is handled by the Corps of Engi-
neers to the capacity of the,space allotted
for that purpose."

MR. MILLER:

"Mr. Stapleton represents on this Board
the area of Denver on the South Platte and
I represent the area outside of Denver. I
think any priority should be given for
presently irrigated lands in need of fur-
ther irrigation over new lands."

"Our studies in previous years gave
priority to supplemental water for some
200,000 acres and they did state that
water would probably be available for
some 30,000 acres of new lands on assump-
tion of certain importation of water but
this has changed. Our thinking now is
that no new lands will have water avail-
able to them."

MR. MILLER:

"Is there some plan for replacing the
lands taken out by the building of a reser-
voir to the counties from which it is re-
moved?"

MR. KNIGHTS:

"That will involve questions of topo-
graphy and geography."
