Existing Water Right Information

Staff has analyzed the water rights tabulation and consulted with the Division Engineer's Office
(DEO) to identify any potential water availability problems. There are four decreed surface
diversions within this reach of stream (John Hoseman Ditch, Rock Ditch, Hartman McIntire
Ditch and Maher Ditch). According to the DEO, there is usually sufficient water available
within this stream reach to satisfy the recommended instream flow amount. Based on this
analysis, staff has determined that water is available for appropriation on the Muddy Creek, from
the headwaters to Crawford Reservoir, to preserve the natural environment to a reasonable
degree without limiting or foreclosing the exercise of valid existing water rights.

CWCB Staff's Instream Flow Recommendation
Based on the CDOW & CDPOR recommendation, staff recommends the Board form its intent to
appropriate on the following stream reach:

Seqment: Headwaters to Crawford Reservoir
Upper Terminus: Headwaters at
(Latitude 380 38' 14"N) (Longitude 107028' 36"W)
UTM = 42 79 434N 13 2 84 444E
SE SE S35 T51N R5.5W 6PM
1122' West of East Section Line 1068' North of South Section Line

Lower Terminus: Crawford Reservoir
(Latitude 380 40' 09"N) (Longitude 107036' OO"W)
UTM = 42 83 267N 13 2 73 790E
NW SE S 24 T 51 N R 7 W 6 PM
2371' West of East Section Line 1912' North of South Section Line

Watershed: North Fork Gunnison River (HUC: 14020002)
Counties: Gunnison and Delta
Length: 8.7 miles
USGS Quad(s): Mt.
