Mr. Barrett will probably <br />be leaving within about a month for one of <br />those assignments in Bangkok. We are real <br />sorry to see him go. ~ve are going to try our <br />best to get a replacement. It will be diffi- <br />cult but we'll do the best we can in order to <br />be sure that the objectives that you gentlemen <br />are favoring will be carried out here in the <br />South Platte Basin where Joe has been so ener- <br />getic in those studies so far. <br /> <br />An item of interest, I think, is a con- <br />tract which we have executed with the City of <br />Englewood in cooperation with the Northern <br />Colorado Water Conservancy District on the <br />Colorado-Big Tho~son Project. This involves <br />some additional diversions under existing rights <br />which will be beneficial both to Englewood, to <br />the United States Government as far as the <br />Colorado-Big Thompson Project is concerned, and <br />to the Conservancy District. That contract <br />has been executed. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />About a week ago I participated in a <br />meeting at Brush, Colorado, in connection with <br />the South Platte Basin studies, more particu- <br />larly directed toward Narrows. I got the <br />distinct impression from that meeting, which <br />was attended by Chamber of Commerce representa- <br />tives and other invited guests from the area <br />including Fort Morgan and upstream from there, <br />that there is definitely more interest in pro- <br />ceeding with Narrows storage - some storage on <br />the South Platte certainly - and they are cer- <br />tainly interested in the South Platte Basin <br />comprehensive development as we discussed it <br />at that meeting. <br /> <br />I'd be happy to answer any questions that <br />I can.
