selecting those individuals who are topnotch
and who will be able to contribute materially
to the free world's objective in some of these
foreign countries. Mr. Barrett will probably
be leaving within about a month for one of
those assignments in Bangkok. We are real
sorry to see him go. ~ve are going to try our
best to get a replacement. It will be diffi-
cult but we'll do the best we can in order to
be sure that the objectives that you gentlemen
are favoring will be carried out here in the
South Platte Basin where Joe has been so ener-
getic in those studies so far.

An item of interest, I think, is a con-
tract which we have executed with the City of
Englewood in cooperation with the Northern
Colorado Water Conservancy District on the
Colorado-Big Tho~son Project. This involves
some additional diversions under existing rights
which will be beneficial both to Englewood, to
the United States Government as far as the
Colorado-Big Thompson Project is concerned, and
to the Conservancy District. That contract
has been executed.

About a week ago I participated in a
meeting at Brush, Colorado, in connection with
the South Platte Basin studies, more particu-
larly directed toward Narrows. I got the
distinct impression from that meeting, which
was attended by Chamber of Commerce representa-
tives and other invited guests from the area
including Fort Morgan and upstream from there,
that there is definitely more interest in pro-
ceeding with Narrows storage - some storage on
the South Platte certainly - and they are cer-
tainly interested in the South Platte Basin
comprehensive development as we discussed it
at that meeting.

I'd be happy to answer any questions that
I can. I think that's about the extent of ~
additional remarks."
