I

functions and the storage capacity require-
ments in that reservoir with our expanded
study which, as you know, includes an upper
reservoir at possibly the Two Forks site. So
as soon as our studies are advanced far enough
to reach a firm conclusion of What we will
need in Narrows Reservoir then it would be
possible to move that ahead to construction
and pick up the other developments in the Basin
at a later date. In other words, we don't need
to delay one part of it for completion of the
whole study.

We certainly appreciate the assistance of
the state in our work on the Narrows Unit and
I am sure that your con tribution will aid
materially in advancing the completion date
of this study.

We might note in passing that we are just
completing a rather comprehensive land use
study in the South Platte Basin. We started
that originally to pick up the changes in irri-
gated land here near the metropolitan area but
we have extended that to the full Basin, for
two or three reasons. We wanted to know just
which ~ands were irrigated at the present
time, what the changes had been in other areas
besides in the vicinity of Denver, and we
wanted a little firmer information as to which
lands were served by which ditches. If any of
you are acquainted with the ditch system in
the Platte Valley you can understand why we
need that information in order to make a com-
prehensive study.

I

OUr work on the Cache la Poudre has been
delayed. We have no funds to start that until
the appropriation bill has been passed and we
hope that that's going to be cleared very
shortly. In the meantime we have been working
with the water users in the Cache la poudre
area. As you recall, they appointed a steer-
ing committee to work with us and the steering
committee in turn has been working very closely
with the Cache la poudre Water Users A$socia-
tion which now represents all of the water
