.J.JVU

NR. STAPLETON:

NR. CARSON:

NR. STAPLETON:

activities, all of the requests must be sub-
mitted to our office. We review the request
for assistance and determine the proper agen-
cies that should be consulted in connection
with the requests. \qe then set up a meeting
with the sponsors with all the interested I
agencies, such as the Game, Fish and Parks
Department, our department, the S.C.S., the
Bureau of Reclamation, and where appropriate,
the Corps of Engineers. We explain the various
types of programs that are available and we
assist the sponsors in making a decision as
to which one would best fit their needs. We
found that this type of coordination is
necessary because in past years the S.C.S.,
in one case, started to approve a project
which was in the heart of a large reclamation
project. Another case, we found our Game,
Fish and Parks Department about to construct
a reservoir, a small reservoir, in the middle
of a larger one that we already had planned.
Even among the state agencies we were not
able to keep fully coordinated and the federal
agencies have the same problem. To try to
eliminate this unnecessary process of duplica-
tion we established this coordinating proce-
dure, that all requests must be submitted to
our office and we in turn then set up the
necessary coordinating procedures.

We hope that this type of program \~ill
be continually expanded, because it is the
only solution to making additional \'Iater avail-
able in the future. We are just about out of
water as far as ne"l sources are concerned."

"Thank you, Larry. Are there any com-
ments or questions from members of the Board
on ~tr. Carson's report? Any members of our
audience have any questions? Thank you very
much, Nr. Carson."

I

"Thank you."

"We \~ill no\~ turn, if you "lill, to Agenda
Item #4, the Trinidad Project and we will
