I

compr~s~ng three floodwater-retarding dams and
two flood disposal channels on tributary drain-
ages into the Arkansas River giving benefits
principally to farmland and urban, public and
private property. This is a small watershed
of about 12,000 acres. On April 4 we re-
quested planning approval for the development
of the final work plan from Washington. We
heard yesterday that if we could get it within
the 1967 fiscal number of authorized projects,
we have 100 authorized for the year, we will
receive this approval.

On the 1st of July, if the 100 author-
izations are taken up and we don't get this
one in, they have promised us that this
project would receive authorization in the
first group of the fiscal year after July 1st.

Our West Paradox Watershed project is
principally a water management project on
the western slope comprising about 38,000
acres in Colorado and 22.000 acres in utah.
The benefited area of farmlands are princi-
pally in Colorado, however, and the reservoir
site, which is to be enlarged to provide
supplemental storage and for recreational
benefits. There is not enough supplemental
water available to bring any increase in land
under irrigation but it would increase the
overall production of the land.

m

The irrigation interests recently made a
proposal to increase the amount of the conser-
vation pool for recreation purposes from 400
acre-feet to 600 acre-feet, and to reduce the
conservation pool for supplemental irrigation
from 2,000 acre-feet to either 1,600 acre-
feet or 1,800 acre-feet. The Colorado Game,
Fish and Parks Commission agreed May 27th
that they would cooperate in the program for
the pool that would be comprised of 2,400
aCre-feet of beneficial use which would com-
prise 600 for the fish pool and 1,800 for
supplemental irrigation.
