Again we have received outstanding coopera-
tion from all the agencies involved and
particularly the Colorado state Highway De- I
partment. At the time \~e started to move on
the Mount Carbon project the state Highway
Department had already advertised for bids
to construct a new highway through the pro-
posed darn site, a new four-way highway which
. I think you are all familiar '<lith, an e:~ten-
sion of Hampden Z\.venue through the city of
Morrison, through the Turkey Creek area, a
much needed highway. so the state High\~ay
Department is caught \'lith a road which nO\'l
leads to nowhere. Despite the additional ex-
pense that has been occasioned to them, it is
my understanding that they are now going ahead
on their own and redesigning this highway to
reroute it around the darn site without waiting
for federal action. I think that r.lr. Charlie
Shumate and his department are certainly to
be commended for the great cooperation they
have shown.

neers to the Board for this meeting is as follows:

"The follO\~ing resume of the current status of our
activities in the South Platte River basin is provided for your
information;

a. Chatfield Darn and Reservoir pro;ect.

(1) Land Acquisition. Real estate negotiations
for land purchase were started recently with areas involving high-
way relocations and the darn site construction area given first
priority.

(2) Status of Design. Design of outlet works and
spillway is scheduled for completion in May 1967. Chatfield main
embankment design is scheduled for completion in August 1967. The
