OO~.L

I

great many of the town's population now
employ water softeners. Rocky Ford and
La Junta are also some other areas which
we hope to include in the program. If
anyone has any knowledge or any ideas of
other areas of the state that should be
included in this program, we would like
to be advised of them.

We do not expect any great amount of
money for this program. We are thinking
in the terms of $50,000 to $75,000 a year
for these portable experimental plants.
The one now at Fort Morgan is under con-
tract with the Raiser Engineers. Many
of the experimental stations will be under
contract with private firms. They will
feature such things as reverse osmosis,
membranes, and other types of potentials
for eliminating the minerals in the water.
Each type of water has its own particular
problem and what holds true for one area
may not hold true for another area as far
as removal of dissolved solids is con-
cerned. This is the reason we should do
experiments in the various areas.

Are there any questions up to this
point about any of the things that I have
covered?"

MR. STAPLETONt

"I'd like to know the relationship
between the Water Pollution Control Com-
mission and the Board. How much of a
staff they have and are we expertise in
the question of water pollution? How
does all that work out?"

MR. SPARKS I

"We have a member of our Board who
is a member of the Water Pollution Control
commission, Mr. Vandemoer. He has attended
most of its meetings, perhaps all of them.
We also have assigned to the commission,
on a part-time basis, one of our engineers
who attends virtually all of the meetings
of the commission and keeps us advised.

I
