The photos below show a <br />flood-threatened home and a damaged roadway directly impacted by precipitation that fell over the <br />Hayman bum area. <br /> <br /> <br />CWCB Floodplain Mapping Coordinator Position: On June 16 the Federal Emergency <br />Management Agency (FEMA) provided us with a grant application so we can request substantial new <br />funding related to Floodplain Map Modernization in Colorado. The CWCB is currently completing the <br />necessary grant application fonns and is finalizing a position description for a contracted individual to <br />assist us with MMMS functions and help us meet floodplain mapping goals. It is our understanding <br />that this grant is being offered with 100 percent assistance requiring no state cost share. CWCB staff <br />will be working through proper chaunels to advertise and select for the proposed position once the <br />FEMA grant has been awarded. <br /> <br />Floodplain Designation Update: We have contracted with Love & Associates of Louisville to assist <br />in the technical review and updating of six existing floodplain studies that need to be designated and <br />approved. The locations of the six studies are: Hinsdale County, Black Hawk, Orchard City, <br />Saguache, Manassa, and Meeker. <br /> <br />We have already contacted local officials from each of those communities and will be conducting <br />meetings and site visits as necessary. Proposed designations are scheduled to be presented to the <br />Board for consideration in September. <br /> <br />Updated Covered Entities List: On June 4 we sent the Water Resources and Power Development <br />Authority an updated list of entities with state approved water conservation plans. A copy of the list is <br />attached. <br /> <br />Arkansas River BasIn <br /> <br />Kansas v Colorado, Litigation Account: Weare funding a number of activities related to the ongoing <br />litigation with Kansas over the Arkansas River Compact. Since your March 2004 decision to grant the <br />Attorney General's request the bulk of those funds, $750,000 will come from the Litigation Account of <br />the Construction Fund. In addition to the litigation account, we are using severance tax and <br /> <br />11 <br />
