The CWCB presently maintains several databases which have a potential for GIS application,
For example, a database of loans financed through the Construction Fund is maintained for all
projects under the Water Project Construction Loan Program, A database of potential reservoir sites
in Colorado is part of the Colorado Dam Site Inventory, A list of stream reaches for which the
Board has acquired instream flows is maintained under the Instream Flow Program, Finally, a
database and library of 100-year floodplain information designated by the CWCB is maintained
under the Floodplain Management Program,

The CWCB is requesting $40,000 in FY 2000 funds for technical assistance to further refine the
development and implementation of GIS capabilities for the CWCB within the DNR GIS
environment.

State Engineer - Reoublican River Comoact Investigation

The Division of Water Resources is anticipating that Kansas will file leave with the U.S.
Supreme Court to sue Nebraska over violations of the Republican River Compact. Colorado is a
signatory to this three state interstate stream compact. If the Supreme Court allows the lawsuit to
proceed, Colorado needs to have better data on water use in the basin. The Division of Water
Resources expects that the Supreme Court will decide whether to accept the request by Kansas
sometime this fall or winter. .
