<br />Public involvement to proceed to determine <br />acceptability of various alternative plans and solicit <br />new ideas for alternatives. <br /> <br />Next year, Phase II is expected to commence which will <br />involve feasibility level design and cost estimates for <br />the recommended plan. <br /> <br />4. Located in western Colorado on the Colorado River, <br />saline springs are clustered in Glenwood Springs and <br />at Dotsero at the eastern end of Glenwood Canyon. <br /> <br />Purpose and main features - Purpose is to determine <br />acceptable way to reduce salt contribution to the <br />Colorado River. A recommended plan has not been <br />determined but some concepts being investigated include <br />desalting plants, deep well injection, evaporation <br />ponds and stockpiling of salt. Concepts to involve <br />consideration of intermediate uses of the hot brine <br />(such as geothermal heating) prior to final disposal. <br /> <br />-8- <br />
