SUMMARY

Consent Agenda Items 3.a-c include 3 floodplain studies proposed for CWCB action. A brief
summary of the studies is presented below.

1. FPR 01-538: Arapahoe County and Incorporated Areas, Flood Insurance Study dated
August 1995 was prepared by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It includes both
approximate and detailed floodplain delineations for numerous flooding sources within
unincorporated and incolporated portions ofthe county. There appear to be no major technical
problems or issues with the current floodplain mapping, however concerns exist over the low
quality of the street information shown on the base map. FEMA will need to address this
matter in the future when the floodplain maps are revised and re-printed. Community officials
were notified of the CWCB's proposed designation action, and meetings were set up, when
requested by local staff, to discuss the designation process. The proposed action for the
Arapahoe County floodplain information is designation and approval by the Board in order to
meet statutory requirements. The CWCB's engineering contractor is also preparing a hydrology
addendum to provide technical information to supplement the 1995 Flood Insurance Study.

.

Flood Protection.
