2 water is used in Colorado by a range of measures designed to promote

3 the reasonable use of less water to meet the requirements of beneficial

4 uses.

Section 2. Short title.

This Act shall be known and may be cited

6 as the" Water Use Efficiency Act of 1989".

Section 3. Title 37, Colorado Revised Statutes, is amended BY THE

8 ADDITION OF A NEW ARTICLE to read:

ARTICLE 60.5

10 37-60.5-101. Functions of the Colorado water conservation board.

11 (1) The Colorado water conservation board shall:

12 (a) develop the informational and technical capacity to render as-

13 sistance to entities with retail municipal water distribution responsi-

14 bilitias regarding measures that would help these entities and their re-

15 tail customers use water more efficiently in accordance with the purpose

16 of this Act;
17 (b) develop and implement a program of public informat{on on water-

18 saving measures; and

19. (c)issue, and from time to time revise as necessary, model guidelines

20 for the development of the retail municipal water-saving programs required

21 by section 37-60.5-102.

22 (2) The personal services, operating, travel and subsistence, capital and

23 legal services expenses of administering the programs and activities auth-

24 orized by subsection (1) of this section and by section 37-60.5-105 may

25 be paid from .'uch moneys as are appropriated, allocated, or other...ise

26 credited to the Colorado water conservation board construction fund es-

27 tablished by section 37-60-121(1), Colorado Revised Statutes.
