<br />220 <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />"A River's Journey - Water in the Wesf' is one step in providing current materials in a fonnat that is easy <br />for educators to implement, It is designed to be atlrnctive to educator's, not only in its packaging, but in its <br />reinforcement of Colorado Model Content Standards for public school clUTiculum. "A River's Journey. <br />Water in the West" will be developed based upon Colorado's model content s1aJldards for science, social <br />studies and geography. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />One of the major categories under the standard for earth and space science is that students know major' <br />sources of water, its uses, importance and cyclic patterns of movement through the envirorunent The <br />rationale for this standard is that the world's water is vilal to life, Both subtle and wholesale changes in <br />earth's water can have promund affects on human existence, In order to preserve both the quality and <br />quantity of water for daily living, wise management of water resources is crucial. With a distribution network of more than 4,000 teachers in Colorado and possible <br />access to the program via the lnterne~ this program will be widely available to students. <br /> <br />The audience for the CD.ROM will be elemenlaly, middle and high school students, the general public and <br />agricultural groups, The target audience of this project is students, theirtcachers and their tlunilies, We <br />will be planting the seecls today fur a more water literate society in the future, <br /> <br />It will be these students who will be make crucial decisions in the future affecting our water resource. <br />These decisions will affect our society and way of life.
