<br />672 <br /> <br />(5) "Water board" as used herein refers to the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board created by section 148-1-1, <br />Colorado Revised Statutes 1953. <br /> <br />(6) "Well" as used herein means any structure <br />or device used for the purpose or with the effect of obtain- <br />ing water for beneficial use from an aquifer. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />(7) "Artesian well" as may be used with respect <br />to this Article means a well obtaining water from an aquifer <br />under hydrostatic pressure in an area described by the Colo- <br />rado Water Conservation Board as a proven artesian basin. <br /> <br />(8) '~ell driller" means any individual. corpora- <br />tion, partnership, association, political subdivision or <br />public agency which shall dig, drill, case, recase, deepen <br />or excavate a well or wells either by contract or for hire, <br />or for any consideration whatsoever. <br /> <br />(9) "Private driller" as used herein means any <br />individual, company, partnership, association, political <br />subdivision or public agency which shall operate as lessee <br />or O'dner its own well drilling rig and equipment and which <br />shall dig, drill, redrill, case, recase, deepen or excavate <br />a well or wells upon the property of such entity for water <br />to be used exclusively on such property, or on contiguous <br />property owned by the same person at the time of the drill- <br />ing of the well. <br /> <br />Section 147-18-3. The office of the State Engi- <br />neer is hereby designated as the official place of record <br />in which all statements of claim to the use of underground <br />waters within the state of Colorado shall be filed. <br /> <br />Section 147-18-4. (1) All statements of claim <br />to the use of underground waters shall be prepared in ac- <br />cordance with the rules and regulations of the office of <br />the State Engineer pertaining to the filing of such state- <br />ments of claim adopted and promulgated hereunder. For the <br />purpose of meeting the requirements of this Article, such <br />rules and regulations shall require that all such state- <br />ments of claim shall show the following: <br /> <br />(a) The name and address of the claimant or <br />agency. <br /> <br />(b) The location of the well, tunnel or shaft. <br />(c) The date and depth of first drilling; the <br /> <br />I <br />
