The charge of this office
focuses primarily on municipal and urban wilter use efficiency. The legislation outlines a
number of duties and tasks for the Office to accomplish. These Office duties can be
categorized into four principal areas of responsibility: 1) the establishment of an information
clearinghouse, 2) administration of a grants program for water efficient demonstration
projects, 3) coordination for required water conservation plans for state agencies, and 4)
assistance in developing required water conservation plans for certain water providing
agencies. The legislation also authorizes 1.5 fiE for Office staff to accomplish these duties.

OFFICE PLANS
The four areas of responsibility each contain a number of tasks and "mini projects" required
for implementation or completion. A schedule has been developed to work on these areas
simultaneously.

One of the most important roles for the Office will be the sharing of information through
the clearinghouse and general communications with water providers statewide. Providing
technical assistance to agencies as needed and requested will also be an important function.
In addition, key among the responsibilities of the Office will be the administration of the
grant program.
