HJR 1001, First Extraordinary Session of <br /> <br />the Fifty-Sixth General Assembly, directs that a study of the <br /> <br />state's water laws and pOlicies be undertaken by January 15, <br /> <br />1989, to the extent determined necessary. Accordingly. the <br /> <br />Board held a special meeting on Friday, August 26, at which it <br /> <br />took pUblic <br /> <br />deliberated about. the issue(s) to <br /> <br />comment on, and <br /> <br />for study.~e <br /> <br />purpose of this letter is to <br /> <br />be selected <br /> <br />forward to you the Board's recommendation for the topic to be <br /> <br />,~/ studied. The Board will await your concurrence in its <br /> <br />..~ recommendation, or your directions to the contrary, before it <br />Y, <br /> <br />'. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />proceeds further. <br /> <br />Since HJR 1001 directs that the subject study be <br />accomplished without any additional staff or appropriations. <br /> <br />the Board has reviewed its existing workload. With all staff <br /> <br />fully committed, this study can only be undertaken by delaying <br /> <br />some activity scheduled for the next five months. Furthermore, <br /> <br />the preparation of a pOlicy study such as this will necessarily <br /> <br />fall on the Board's senior management personnel, especially the <br /> <br />director and deputy director. <br /> <br />7974E <br />
