Continue Statewide Water Planning <br /> <br />Grantee/Contractor: CWCB <br /> <br />Amount of request: $25,000 <br /> <br />Cost share and partners: NA <br /> <br />Schedule:" The CWCB's efforts to complete a local water basin planning effort began in <br />2000. Meetings will be held and local water basin planning fact sheets were produced. <br />The process of updating the information in the fact sheets and holding meetings is <br />expected to continue in this fiscal year. <br /> <br />Product Produced: Eight hard copy water basin fact sheets were produced in 2000. The <br />information in these fact sheets will be transferred to the Internet and updated annually. <br />Additional products like specific basin instream flow facts sheets will be produced as by- <br />products and made available in hard copy and on the Internet. <br /> <br />Water planning relationship: The General Assembly has discussed the need for <br />statewide water planning every year and is expected to create a permanent water <br />committee comprised oflegislators, local and DNR officials. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />2. Groundwater Atlas <br /> <br />Grantee/Contractor: CGS Amount of request: $160,000 <br /> <br />Cost share and partners: To be identified. <br /> <br />Schedule: Work is expected to being this year and continue, using already appropriated <br />funds through 2003 when a "smart" Internet based product focusing on a specific ground <br />water basin will be available in 2002-2003. <br /> <br />Product Produced: A non-technical soft cover and an Internet based ground water atlas <br />covering the entire state similar to the atlas produced by Kansas. This will lead to the <br />production of a "smart" web-based atlas that can complement existing and developing <br />Decision Support System tools. <br /> <br />Water planning relationship: Dependence on groundwater is increasing. Preparing the <br />atlas will allow the CWCB to coordinate the efforts ofDWR; other DNR agencies, local <br />groundwater management districts and others to collect information make it available for <br />local planning. <br /> <br />Flood Protection <br /> <br />1.
