Water Education Projects <br /> <br />Grantee / Contractor: CWCB <br /> <br />Amount 6f Request: $50,000 <br /> <br />Cost share and Partners: Local school districts would share at least 50 percent of the <br />cost. The Central Colorado Water Conservancy District and the U.S. Bureau of <br />Reclamation would assist with program content. A special education subcommittee of <br />the Colorado Water Congress would provide guidance. <br /> <br />Schedule: July I, 2001 through June 30, 2002 <br /> <br />Product Produced: A Teacher's Guide with lesson plans and a water education kit <br />tailored to Colorado will be developed and distributed. The success of the program will <br />be evaluated on the basis of pre- and post testing and the results will be summarized in a <br />written report to the CWCB. <br /> <br />Water planning relationship: The project will improve public understanding of the <br />value of water as a scarce natural resource. This will help local and regional water <br />planning efforts where public understanding and input is important. <br /> <br />2. Local Water Conservation Grants and Projects <br /> <br />Grantee/ Contractor: Local Governments Amount of Request: $30,000 <br /> <br />Cost Share and partners: Local governments will be required to share up to 50 percent <br />of the costs. <br /> <br />Schedule: July I, 2001 through June 30, 2002 <br /> <br />Product Produced: Matching grants will be made to local governments for projects that <br />demonstrate new and innovative water conservation technology. For example, a project <br />might be to test the efficiency and water savings of using real time evapo-transpiration <br />data (ET) directly form the National Weather Service using pager technology to control <br />the rate and duration of water applied to residential lawns and gardens. Monthly progress <br />reports and a detailed written final report that documents the success of the proj ect will <br />be produced for each funded proj ect. These reports will be posted to the Internet for <br />others to read. <br /> <br />Water planning relationship: This project will provide local water planners with up to <br />date information about the utility of implementing various cutting edge water <br />conservation measures under Colorado climate conditions. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />3. GIS Technical Assistance <br /> <br />Grantee/Contractor: CWCB/CGS or private contractor <br />Amount of Request: $15,000 <br /> <br />. <br />
