trees. Most irrigation is from sprinklers using the water pressure from the
community system. Some water is consumed by watering domestic animals,
estimated to average 25 horses or cows.

Consumptive Use Estimate: The irrigated area determined from the
POA field survey was used along with consumptive use data to estimate the total
consumptive use from the community well. It is estimated that for 1998 the
consumptive use will be 86.68 acre-feet. This number was obtained using the
fOllowing assumptions:

The POA installed a totalizing flow meter that records all the water
pumped from the community well to the subdivision. The monthly consumption

Assuming crop consumptive use is 70 percent for water applied with sprinklers,
then for 1997 the consumption would have been 79.24 acre-feet. This amount is less than
the 86,68 acre-feet estimated from acreage data. In the future the metered data will be the
most accurate way to estimate the consumptive use.
