With any
luck, this will be my last meeting as your Acting Director and we will be working with a
full leadership team by the January 1999 meeting! Your staff has made great strides in
improving its size, efficiency and morale since we lost Chuck to retirement He seems to
be doing much better, even after sleeping four nights in cold rain during 2d Rifle Season
(lots of new steaks in the freezer must help)! However, his last MRl (November 12)
shows evidence of some regrowth in the same spot and that's a big disappointment He is
preparing for another surgical treatment in the next week or so and I will help relay new
information as quickly as I can,

We have hired two new members to our staff to replace Vicki Ta and Fran
Guiterrez, who found other jobs last summer. Help us welcome Todd Doherty, who will
help with many aspects of the Instream Flow and Natural Lake Level Program, and Pearl
Campos, who will help us with overall office management from the front desk. Todd
graduated recently from the University of Colorado and has worked for us as an intern
during the past three years. Pearl is a Denver native and has many years of experience in
office management, principally in the healthcare field,

Annual Report, We have developed a draft of an Annual Report that follows a
very different theme, this year: a short, colorful overview! Our draft is still pretty rough
but we like the appearance and the breadth of information conveyed, Please mark your
copies and return them if you want to suggest improvements, I hope to finalize this in
time for the Joint Budget Committee hearing December 7, 1998 to consider our budget
request for FY2000,
