Evidently not then. . Let's call for a vote.

MR. JACKSON: Mr. Chairman, if I may, could I speak on behalf of
Montrose?

MR. .STAPLETON: : Yes, if you will again identify yourself.
MR; AUSTIN: This is Harley Jackson from Delta.

I

. -
MR. SPARKS: Mr. Jackson is a member of the'City Council of Delta.

MR. JACKSON: And also Tri-County Board, which, you see on your summary
sheet.

I'm going to ~ry to wear two hats. The first one will be the Tri-County
hat. Presently the usage along Tri-County lines ~is beginning to almost
equal the amount, of water that the city of Montrose is using in the city
limits. This is far beyond the original projections that were ou~lined.
And so consequently, I think for the immediate future anyhow, Tri-County
.is interested in,more availaple water.: For example, last.month,at the
Board meeting, I believe there-were well over a hundred applications
for water taps for a new subdivision on Tri-County lines. -It creates
quite a problem since the city of:Montrose.treats all of the Tri-County's
water. ' :

The Tri-County lines also extend all' the way to Delta, and they: are. ,
connected. We, ,in these:lastffew days, have had conversations with the
city of Montrose - and I'm speaking about the city of Delta right now -
about the critical water problem we are having there today, the:possi-
bility of having the city of Montrose treated water transferred through
Tri-County lines to the city'of Delta. And~for them to better serve the
Uncompagbre Valley with this type of arrangement, they're going to. need
some help.

So I just wanted to speak on behalf of Mo~trose, which doesnit happen
too often. (Laughter.)

MR. STAPLETON: The beginning of a beautiful friendship. '

.
MR. LEINSDORF: Mr. Chairman, I move approval,of the Montrose project.,
MR. JACKSON: Second.

MR. STAPLETON: It's been regularly moved and seconded. Any further
discussion?

I

(No, ,response.)
All those in favor, signify by saying "Aye'."
(Unanimous :"Ayes.")

MR. STAPLETON: Opposed?
(No response.)

-52-
