These are just innnediately adjacent to Hayden.

These figures are incomplete. There are a number of companies that I
could not contact, and there were a number of companies that did not
want to place a figure on their: employment, 'because they do.not have a
definite timetable, on their operations.

'-

Now a little, bit on our water facilities. Our source of water for the
community is the Yampa River, which is~located approximately a.quarter
of a mile north of the town'of Hayden.. OUr current water costs'are
fifty-nine cents per thousand'gallons. Our equipment and facilities
under phase one of which we have applied for funding consists of the
following, which I don't know if you have a list of -:but it consists
of an intake facility, wet well, lift pumps, chemical.feeders,.all of
which were constructed in 1962; a clarifier, fifteen. thousand gallon
,equalizing reservoir constructed~in 1962,; eighteen hundred: feet of
twelve-inch wooden stave gravity flow.line, which was constructed
between 1913 and 1922, which is leaking water probably both ways.
We're not sure~ Pumprhouse building with a-wet well, two turbine
pumps, chlorination-floridation',equipment, and filters dating from 1913
to about 1950. In addition, we have a storage reservoir that will have
to be increased. .. We currently have one forty thousand gallont<;lnk that
was constructed in 1922:, one eight;\,thousand gallon tank that was con-
structed in 1950, and a one:hundred twenty-five thousand gallon ta~
which we installed this past'summer. These are supplied by two: six-inch
pumping mains from the pump house.

Our delivery system consists of one six-inch pumping'main,:which is also
used as"a delivery. main; and' two eight-inch'mains which we installed in
1973. '

I

Our distribution system consists of about eleven hundred feet of eight-
inch main, six thousand feet of six-inch main, about eighteen thousand
:feet of four-inch main, and' about sixteen hundred feet of sizes less
than four-inch. As you are probably aware, anything four-inch and
under does not meet with the requirements of the fire underwriters for
fire insurance.

Now, the ,system improvement projects of phase one. This project. if:
funded entirely through revenue bonds from the community would double
the cost of finished water to the users. This is an item that I think
is probably in excess of any water costs in the state, from what
information I have. Phase one is a minimum project that we could under-
take that would:relieve our water supply problem. We have looked into
the possibilities of constructing this phase one in stages, and we ,find I
that if we did any single part of it from funds that the community
could come up with, that we would realize' very little benefit because
the whole system, the way it stands now, everything is a bottleneck to
something else.

Phase one consists of the following: the raw water pump, raw water
controller, filter pumps" filter beds, coagulant control center, chemical
feeders, high s'ervice .water pump, backwash pumps, filter bedding, exca-
vation fencing and roadways. The total water production facility cost

-16-
