Basically I think that the paint of contention
is that the 'Overall plan by the committees I
envisions blue or water and I think the Carps
'Of Engineers envisi'Ons the paint of this pr'Oj-
ect to be green 'Or grass. Now many 'Of these
committees and individuals are supporting a
cancept 'Of barriers and checks in this floodway
thr'Ough Denver to enable the establishment of
water areas in and thr'Ough Denver for recrea-
ti'Onal purp'Oses, whether it be beating 'Or sail-
ing 'Or whatever it might be. I think this
concept completely defeats the 'Overall attempt
to contr'Ol the Platte River thr'Ough the City
of Denver.

If we pass the pr'Oposal that is bef'Ore
us. will we be surrendering the safeguard 'Of
the basis of this praject to handle v'Olumes 'Of
water thr'Ough Denver far the pr'Otecti'On of the
city and its citizens?"
