open bids on the first phase of the Curecanti
Unit, the largest single bid ever awarded by
the Colorado State Highway Department, the
commencement of about a $9,000,000 highway
relocation and bridge program. Governor
McNichols will open the first bid on this
Curecanti Project, which is a monumental
event in the history of Colorado, particu-
larly for those people who have worked so
hard for so many years to bring this project
to a reality. If any of the Board members
could be present at the opening of the bids
I think it would be extremely appropriate.
It will be in the auditorium of the Highway
Building on East Arkansas Avenue here in
Denver at 10:00 A. M. on the morning of March
14th. The Governor will open the first bid,
but actually going through the entire bids
will take all day long. We anticipate, be-
cause of the magnitude of the bids, that there
will be a number of competent bidders for
that project.

For the Florida you have already heard
$2,777,000. Bids will be opened on that in
April. Again a great event for southwestern
Colorado. The paonia is virtually completed
and there is only a small amount of money
(not small to me but small in overall terms),
$330,000, budgeted for the completion of that
project. The smith Fork is just now getting
under way. Bids have already been let on
that and construction is proceeding. There
is $2,000,000 in the budget for that.

You will notice an item of almost
$4,000,000 for Colorado River Transmission
Lines construction. Now this is only the
portion which is allocated to the State of
Colorado. Actually the total cost of these
transmission lines eventually will consider-
ably exceed $100,000,000.

In our project investigations you will
note the Ruedi Reservoir, which is the cooper-
ative program to determine the feasibility of
