~J~~

operating agreements with the Compact Admin-
istration, water users, and within the proj-
ect itself. This report is being put in
final form and we hope that we will be able
to release it by the end of this month. The
Corps of Engineers, as far as I know, have no\:
changed their schedule for completion of
their engineering surveys. They have their
cost estimate. They are scheduled for comple-
tion in December on which we will get together
with them and arrive at an allocation of costs
between irrigation, fish and wildlife and
flood control, and recreation. As soon as
that is available we will be able to complete
our financial studies and report on the neces-
sary repayment for that project.

I

Mr. Sparks has covered
Fryingpan-Arkansas Project.
nothing I can add there.

very well the
I think there

is

On the Narrows, while we are waiting
decision on funds and on the appointment of
a steering committee to furnish us some direc-
tion, we are going ahead with the collection
of basic data. We have as an objective, not
only reviewing the historic water supply and
operation of the valley, but we are trying to
project those into the future in light of
conditions which have developed in recent
years. One of those being a serious condi-
tion - the matter of ground water pumping.
As I say, we are going ahead as rapidly as
we can, collecting basic data on that. It's
going to be quite a job to determine the
amount of water which has been pumped and the
number of pumps which have been placed in
operation in recent years.

I

We are completing reconnaissance esti-
mates on the revision of the Narrows site to
meet present conditions; an estimate for a
dam at the Weld County site; and for the
flood impoundment on Bijou Creek. Those are
nearing completion. We still have some right-
of-way problems, right-of-way estimates, to
determine for the Narrows Reservoir site in
