PETERSON:

1787

"It will be so recorded.

The next item on the agenda is the Dinosaur
National Monument legislation."

"Mr. Chairman, if I may interrupt here, un-
less for some reason it can't be done, I would
appreciate very much if item #4 on the agenda
could be substituted for item #3 at this partic-
ular time due to the fact that we have with us
some people from western Colorado who are defin-
itely interested in, and came here for this
particular purpose, to make comments on agenda
item #4. Actually, we think now that there is
a possibility that the Curecanti Project will
soon be in a position to be constructed and in
dOing SOt there is going to be some problems con-
cerning he existing water rights and storage
rights of both the lower Gunnison basin and the
upper Gunnison basin.

There have been joint meetings held between
the Tri-County Conservancy District which com-
prises Ouray, Montrose and Delta Counties, and
also the Upper Gunnison River Water Conservancy
District which takes in the upper basin. There
is the problem of the Taylor Park Reservoir and
the problem of perhaps utilizing that water in
the Upper Gunnison Basin instead of in the Lower
Gunnison Basin when the Curecanti project has
been constructed. There is also the problem of
power development in Taylor Park Reservoir which
reservoir has been constructed and is being re-
