"I just want to call attention to one
deletion on page two. Because if put in,
that second proviso that it shall not exceed
508,000 acre-feet would cut out the fourth
and fifth lines on page two where it says 'to
have an average annual diversion of 508,000
acre-feet'. Cut those two lines out,

Wherever you see dotted lines going through
the text, it means that that language was in the
original text, and we have left it in so you can
see what was taken out."

"Are there any comments at this point by
members of the committee? Then, would you like
to discuss these sections at this time~

"Yes. Maybe we should go over them individu-
ally."

"All right. Lew, how about you ~
"I have nothing right now."

"I'd like to ask - this first part here
seems to be the most important part of the whole
project as far as the changes are concerned,
isn't it, or the proposed changes? Has any of
this change in the language of the bill been dis-
cussed with anyone from New Mexico?"

"No, it has not."

"That's a $64.00 question:'!"

"You'll be able to hear the repurcussions
whenever those discussions take place."

"Is that in the nature of an atomic bomb
explosion ?"

"They have been discussed with Congressman
Aspinall. On several occasions I conferred
with him. I might state that the Congressman
said this was a problem to be solved by this
Board and not by him, but that we have his full
backing in whatever we undertake." .

"I'm not clear as to why we use the phrase
'initial staqe' when you indicated the initial
and only stage."
