<br />'{- r "-1, t 7""'- <br /> <br />STATE OF COLORADO <br /> <br />EXECUTIVE CHAMBERS <br /> <br />13& State Capitol <br />Denver, C:olorado 80203.1792 <br />Phone (303) 8&(1"2471 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />B" 004 94 <br /> <br />E X E CUT I V E 0 R D E R <br /> <br />CREATING THE <br />ARKANSAS RIVER COORDINATING COMMITTEE <br /> <br />the Arkansas River sustains the productive <br />capacity of thousands of acres of irrigated <br />land, furnishes an essential water supply to <br />communities and families, provides <br />significant wildlife habitat and offers <br />abundant recreation opportunities; and <br /> <br />it is in the interest of all Coloradans to <br />preserve the economic, social and <br />environmental health of the Arkansas River <br />basin by ensuring that the river continues <br />to provide these benefits; and <br /> <br />cooperative efforts are underway to obtain <br />water for wildlife and recreation purposes <br />at Trinidad State park, John Martin <br />Reservoir and the Great Plains Reservoirs; <br />and <br /> <br />the outcome of the Kansas vs. Colorado <br />lawsuit may require that existing patterns <br />of water use and administration be changed, <br />with results that are not yet certain; and <br /> <br />important decisions will have to be made by <br />state agencies, communities, agricultural <br />water users, wildlife and recreation <br />interests and others related to Colorado' s <br />response to the lawsuit; and <br /> <br />those decisions will be most effective, <br />equitable and economical if they are <br />coordinated among interests in the Arkansas <br />River basin and state agencies; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, I, Roy Romer, Governor of Colorado, under <br />the authority vested in my by the Constitution and the <br />laws of the State of Colorado, DO HEREBY ORDER AND <br />DIRECT THE FOLLOWING: <br /> <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Roy Ramel <br />Covernor <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br />
