<br />.' <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />Mike Serlet <br /> <br />September 12, 2003 <br /> <br />FROM: Blaine Dwyer <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Colorado River Return Reconnaissance Study <br />Progress Report for September 22 CWCB Board Meeting <br /> <br />This memo presents progress on the Study since the executed contract was received by Boyle <br />Engineering on June 9, 2003. <br /> <br />Public InDnt <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Public input meetings were conducted on June 9 and lOin Grand Junction and Frisco, respectively. <br />Staff of the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) prepared arrangements and announcements <br />for the meetings. The meetings were conducted in an open house format with 16 graphic display boards. <br />Steve Dougherty (ERO Resources) and I represented the Boyle study team. Public status reports have <br />also been made at the July 29 CWCB meeting in Pagosa Springs and at the August 21 Colorado Water <br />Congress meeting in Steamboat Springs, the Club 20 Fall meeting in Grand Junction on September 6, <br />and at the CASFM conference in Breckinridge on September 11. Follow-up activities have included <br />interviews with print and broadcast media including national coverage. <br /> <br />PrOl!ress on Individual Work Tasks <br /> <br />The primary work activity in the first couple months has focused on the identification and analysis of <br />potential alignments within the North, Central, and South Corridors since this activity is on the critical <br />path to complete the Study on schedule (see Task 7 below). <br /> <br />Presented below are brief summaries of work accomplished to date on each of the study tasks: <br /> <br />Initial Work Tasks <br /> <br />Task 1 - Data Collection and Review - Collected and organized map data for use in alignment <br />studies. Pertinent reports obtained from various sources for review and input into a project <br />bibliography. Data sources included the CWCB, Colorado Water and Power Authority, CSU, <br />the Bureau of Reclamation, the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District. Additional data <br />has been requested from several other agencies and municipalities. In addition, information on <br />Grand Valley water development concepts and other issues were provided by several parties in <br />response to the public input meetings. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Task 2 - Compilation of Water Demand Studies on the Arkansas, South Platte and Colorado <br />River Mainstem - State Demographer forecasts and water demand studies have been compiled. <br />Additional information has been requested.
