P.L: 566 funds, estiamted at $3,148,000, will be expended

for the project. These include: $2,422,000 for structural measures,

$339,000 for engineering funds, and $387,700 for administration.
Land and rights, estimated to cost $241,020 must be obtained by the
local sponosr as provided by P.L. 566.
Construction on structural meawures was initai~ed in August 1979

and has been progressing since then. Up until a year ago, the sponsor

was able to provide the necessary funds for the acquisition of rights-

of-way.

However, since then and because of the lirnitedad-valorem

tax revenues being received, the district was unable to purchase the

required right-of-way in time to maintain pace with construction

activities.

This condition prompted the district to request funds for

right-of-way purchase this past March. This request was presented to

the Board at the May 7, 1980 meeting and approved. The funds, totaling

$100,000 were added to Senate Bill 67 in the First Report of First

Conference Committee along with six other projects.

These projects,

however, were deleted in the final Conference Committee Report.

- 2 -
