Prior to this announcement the deadline <br />for completion of the EQIP projects was June 30. <br /> <br />The EQIP energy cost assistance applies to regular EQIP projects, Ground and Surface Water <br />Conservation EQIP projects and Klamath Basin EQIP projects. Burman Named Reclamation's Deputy Commissioner for External and <br />Intergovernmental Affairs: : Bureau of Reclamation Acting Commissioner William Rinne on <br />June 7 announced the appointment of Brenda W. Burman of Washington, DC, as Reclamation's <br />Deputy Commissioner for External and Intergovernmental Affairs. Burman will oversee <br />Reclamation's Congressional and Legislative Affairs and Public Affairs activities. She is also the <br />executive responsible for Reclamation's national relationships with federal, state and local <br />governments, as well as citizen and other nongovernmental groups. <br /> <br />Kempthorne Confirmed as Interior Secretary: The U.S. Senate on May 26 approved former <br />Idaho Governor Dirk Kempthorne as the new Secretary of the Interior. Kempthorne, who was <br />first elected governor in 1998, is also a former senator. Kempthorne told a Senate panel May 4 <br />that he wants to work with Congress to revise the Endangered Species Act if confirmed as <br />Interior secretary. <br /> <br />NWRA Seminar and Annual Meeting Scheduled: The National Water Resources Association's <br />2006 Western Water Seminar, entitled "Water and the West, Stretching Existing Supplies, Water <br />Reuse, Recycling and Desalination" is being held on July 26-28 at the Park City Marriot in Park <br />City, Utah <br /> <br />The NWRA's Annual Meeting is scheduled for November 28-December I at the Hotel Del <br />Coronado, in San Diego, California.
