Roberts: "I SECOND that motion".

All in favor - fuOTION CARRIED.

I

Mr. Crawford: "I have here a letter and resolution
fro:n the North Fork Water Conservancy District,
Hotchkiss, Colorado from hr. Charles R. Neill,
Executive Vice President, which I would like to read
to the Board.

NORTH FORK

WATER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT
Hotchkiss, Colorado
Nov. 24, 1953

Mr. Ivan C. Crawford, Director
Colorado Water Conservation Board,
212 State office Building,
Denver, Colorado

Dear Ar. Crawford:

Herewith is a resolution adopted by the Board of
Directors of this Jistrict.

This may not be the best or .nost effective :nanner to
bring the PAONIA PROJECT to the attention of your
Board and the others who .nay exert influence on your
Board.

We of the PAONIA PROJECT feel that there is a tendency
on the part of many to discount the seriousness of
the situation the PAUNIA PROJECT is in.

I

We have been told by what we consider co:npetent
authority that the higher the cost of generating
electric energy at any of the projects in the Colo-
rado River Storage Project and participating pro-
jects, the less revenue there will be to subsidize
any participating project, which sounds reasonable.
That the more costly the storage project or genera-
ting project the less revenue and the longer a parti-
cipating project will have to wait for funds to com-
plete, as in the case of the PAONIA PROJECT, or even
start the SI'lITH FORK PROJECT which is all but adjacent
to the area of the PAONIA PROJECT.

We have been told by the Bureau of Reclamation that the
only source of relief or further funds for co:npletion
of the PAONIA PROJECT, particularly the construction
of the Spring Creek Dam to provide the Storage Water
for late mid-season and later use, will be from re-
venue from the sale of electric energy that will be
generated at the sites of the Colorado River Storage
Projects.
